Since we are switching gears, I don' want to be left out in the cold like an outcast...... :gig
This is Granddaughter on horsie:frow
Horse belongs to the riding stable where she takes lessons. Grandson has no interest in riding horses. Just :love's baseball. View attachment 1518051
I have no IDEA what kind these are. Only thing I'm sure of is they are not CLYDESDALE:lau
Most of the participants there seemed to be girls:idunno
Lovely! That takes me back, it looks just like the big arena I took lessons in during the winter. In the summer I took care of the horses at a summer camp in exchange for riding privileges. The Saddlebreds I rode looked similar to your adorable grand dau's mount!:)

Oh fun! :love
I worked for 2 summers as a groom when i was a young teen in Florida and was able to ride in exchange for work too. It was a great experience!

I used to groom at a polo yard many years ago. It was great fun we went all over for matches. The ponies were so quick and responsive. We had one called chip, I called him a five second horse because that was how long I stayed on before I got flung off! :lau I wouldn't have been much of a rodeo rider! I figure I don't bend do easy now so I leave the riding to the young 'uns!

I can manage short pleasure rides but end up regretting em these days..:old
I could never have done rodeo..:gig

In the first nest all three are doing great! I'm surprised they haven't ventured out yet! I'll get some pics later when it stops raining....hopefully! They other two are doing good too. The horse comes on Tuesday morning, it's a 13.2hh Welsh c, called Nansi! It's brown with a tan mane. I haven't seen it yet but I'll post a picture. I'm off work on Tuesday.
Did it stop raining yet? Id love to see pic of the young Columbidae ... lol

Hi. Sorry for late reply. Yes it's stopped raining! It's been like a mid summers day here. Lovely and sunny just the weather for flying! Younsters are doing great. Getting big and friendly! They let me pick them up and there is no clicking, squeaking, flapping or panicking!

Excuse the mess. I have since given a good deep clean!
There is plastic eggs in the nest bowl! No more!

I don't know where to begin with this, so I'll start at the beginning! I wanted to catch some feral from the stables as you know from my other thread, anyway I haven't had chance to get up and set up a trap. Today the 'pest control' people came:(. I haven't any news and I don't want to know. I couldn't get up because I have been redoing my fencing because my lovely hens have figured out how to fly/jump the existing one! Anyway I also said that I wanted to start releasing some of my other birds, cut a long story short, it hasn't returned.
My DW got a phone call from a friend saying she has a stray racing pigeon living in her garage but it may have a broken leg, can we take it? How can I say no! I'm a sucker like that! Anyway wife returns with said pidgy in a pet carrier, I have a look and it's got all the regalia, clock ring, phone number ring and an early 2018 racing band. I get it out and it's got feathers missing off its back and it's leg that has the racing band on is swollen badly and had a little sideward movement.

Now get this, I phone the number on the band and several call no answer, I text it saying 'I got your pigeon, I think its got a broken leg, please call me and let me know what you want me to do to'. I get a reply 'don't want it, just kill it. Cook it. It will make a good stew.' WTF! This sort of reply is what gives pigeon racing a BAD name. So thats it. I removed all its rings. The racing band came off as well. That was a pain. I used some small electrical wire cutters.

It's leg is injured but I'm not sure it's broken. Now the ring is off hopefully blood flow will return and the swelling will go down. I'll just have to keep it under observation. It's in a pet carrier in the loft now. Its in it new forever home. :)

I think it will probably heal on its own. I use homeopathic remedy Arnica Montana 30C to speed healing of swelling and trauma in general. For fracture or bone bruising, Symphytum Off. I think they are readily available in UK, economical and good to have on hand as first aid for yourself and family. Free advice - worth what you paid for it. lol

Thanks for those pics! Those are great looking youngsters and I think I predicted they would be much more friendly. haha

Thanks. I'll send DW into town tomorrow and see if she can get those. Arnica I know we can. I've not heard of the other stuff though.
I'm happy that the younsters are more friendly but I am making more of an effort with handling them more. I was worried with the first ones that the parents might abandon them if I was to hands on. This time they seem alot more easy going!
