Um, did we redecorate in here? TSC promotion, or...?

I'm guessing it is an advertiser that ponied up for the screen real estate. Besides, it's an opt-in ad (have to click to activate) and not one of those opt-out horrors (accidentally roll mouse over ad and entire screen is suddenly all cauled over with the `goods', speaker(s) all loudly product hocking - leaving one's machine Adobe Flash mobbed)

must feed the kitty...

From time to time we are able to partner with companies that are excited to get the word out to our community about their products and services. This "site skin" with TSC is a great example.

We appreciate our advertisers and their support of our community. BYC is a very large and busy site and running it as a free resource for literally millions of people each month is very expensive. The sponsors of the site help us keep the lights on and the servers running.

We don't always get to choose the companies that are willing and able to run ads on our site, especially ones that are chicken related, but when they are companies like TSC, Nutrena, and all those mentioned here, we're very glad to have them and are thankful for their contributions.

Please take a moment to let our sponsors know that you are grateful for their support in keeping BYC alive and free for you and the other millions of chicken enthusiasts around the world!

Bears repeating.

Just wanted to mention, for those still on dial-up, a GFM (Golden Feather Membership) is a pretty darn cheap method of speeding loading of BYC, a bit (and a bit is noticeable on dial-up). The ability to turn-off advertising is one of the perks of a GFM. Everyone else, who can, should consider it; helping to defray the costs, associated with allowing one to replace the `cacophony' with egg songs & crows, is an investment with an immediate return. (This member doesn't get to BYC as often as he'd like but, thanks to Rob, there's actually a BYC to come back to :D - small price to pay, imo)

Now that's a good cause to get a GFM. I love BYC, and really appreciate all the time and work put into it. But as much as advertising is necessary, I must say, having a glaring full-page promotion on every page doesn't exactly make it enjoyable.
