Hi,
One of our Buckeye chicks hatched out yesterday with the thing that attaches the chick to the egg still coming from his abdomen (is it umbilical cord or is there a different terminology?). At first it looked slimy and whitish green but now red. It is starting to dry off except near the attachment point in the abdomen and I thought it would break off but the chick isnt looking so well. I had to take him out of the incubator because it kept getting caught in the mesh floor. Poor guy. Chick doesnt look like it's going to make it at this point. Anyone have experience with this?
Comments and suggestions appreciated.
Mary
