Last night I had to help my chick hatch, the membrane had dried out. It’s an alert and cherpy chick but it umbilical cord was attached to the chick and back to the shell therefore it was struggling to walk around the incubator because it was dragging its shell. Once the cord had dried I cut it close to the shell which increased the chicks movement but now I’ve noticed a finger tip sized red bump on it bum. I’m not sure what the red bump is or what to do about it, any suggestions?

Is this bump where the cord/belly button was attached? If so dab a touch of antibiotic ointment on it and keep eye out. It should close up and heal in a day or 2. It's belly may not have totally closed and dried up where the yolk was absorbed. Biggest thing is infection getting in it, so watch that it heals soon and put a bit of ointment on.

Thank you very much for your help, I’m not certain but I think it may be it unabsorbed yolk sac. I feel so terrible for the little chick. do you know anything that could help?
