Umm...help?...leaking hole near chick's vent

This just happened overnight as I check vents daily.

It looks like pus to me. I would not try to glue it. Hopefully it will continue to drain until the wound scabs up on its own. You could put some antibiotic ointment on it to keep it clean. Good luck with your little chick!

So do you think it might be an infection and her belly is like...filled with pus?

When you clean it, more comes out? Can you tell how deep the hole is? Can you get a temp on the chick?.

When I first cleaned it off there was quite a bit built up on the chick's feathers. And kept leaking. The last time I looked, it had stopped leaking. The hole doesn't even look like a hole.

The belly/bum seems swolen, but the chick is acting normal.

I'll update later, if anyone has any advise keep letting me know.

The belly seems slightly stolen to me. The chick is 9 days old. Is it at all possible it didn't properly absorb it's yolk and this is now leaking out? Nothing on the chick looks abnormal except this leakage and she's small, but I have others that hatched from pullet eggs and they are small too. She hatched from a normal sized egg.

It sure looks somewhat like eggyolk, but at 9 days old I assume that the yolk would have been long absorbed. Very strange indeed.

I didn't smell it...but couldn't smell it

Yes, this is strange. I guess no matter what my treatment would be to keep it moist with antibiotic cream and cross my fingers.
