ummm... crud. That was not chicken food.

Okay, having lived a couple years in Ecuador and having had chickens and ducks during that time, I can see the situation. Not like in the states when you run to the feed store for chick starter and grit.

Seems you got the heat issue taken care of, so food. Hmmmm..... Corn is not really complete feed, so you will need to supplement with veggie scraps, bits of meat, etc. For grit, get a little sand/dirt from outside and provide a container of that as well as sprinkling it lightly on the foods.

ETA, keep feeding the corn, it will provide heat calories. Just start adding other foods like minced meat, etc, for protein. Did you find another chick?

Mine is because my brain is too full of new things, learning a new culture and language is taking up all my brain matter. No room left to realize that plaster does not seem like a good food for chickens.

This thread has really cheered me up. Thank you for your gift of humor.

I think animals are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for! She will be fine! Everyone makes mistakes, and it sounds like you have corrected the problem.

Now....some of us need to realize this is a third world country and feeding oneself is priority #1. There is no TSC on the corner folks! I dare say there isnt a market there that most of you would dare step into! If you had a bag of Chick starter the indigenious peoples might use it to make a gruel or bread to feed their own children. Pause for a moment and be thankful you were born where you were! End of teaching point.....

PS. I like stucco too!
