I assumed the same thing by the original post. I thought your pastor was from Ecuador. 4 days of not eating, that's a tough little chick.

I tend to buy the weakest chicks myself. When they survive they tend to be the toughest out there. I currently have 3 Buff Orpingtons that were in the "sick tank".

Can you order food online and have it delivered or can your local grocer order something for you? Are you close enough to an airport that you can have food delivered? I have never been out of country myself, but I live close enough to the airport here in Indianapolis that I tend to go there to ship/receive directly. I would have absolutely no clue how it's done in Ecuador really. Just a suggestion. I hope Paris is still doing well.
