I can not find it either?

This is the ONLY internet forum I have ever seen that considers an occasional bump "spamming". I was kinda shocked by that. Sometimes, especially on one with as much activity as this, it is needed.

If you respond to your post more than a day later, chances are nobody is going to make a fuss. If you respond to your post every 5-30 minutes, then it becomes an issue.

If you respond to your post on selling an item within about 24 hours, or just saying "look at my chicks" that can be a problem, while if you respond to an emergency post 2-3 hours after you posted, and it really is an emergency like injury where time is important it can be excusable.

It is a very fine line to what is acceptable and what is not.

The problem of reposts isn't so much a repost a few days later if your first post rolled to the bottom, but largly the same question that is posted in every forum sub section, or the same poster posting the same question multiple times under different titles.

Once again it is kind of a fine line. If you can find your old post on the first two or three pages, chances are, you probably shouldn't be dong a repost yet if you haven't had a response. If it's on the 4th or greater page, nobody's going to notice it if you post again and the same question wont be cluttering up the first few pages.

I know, and I don't want to be labeled a "trouble-maker" but there needs to be a new ruling on this. If you don't get an answer within an hour on a normal topic you know it's off the list already and you should be able to get it back up there. For emergency questions if you don't have an answer between 15 and 30 minutes I'd say "bump" it up. I needed an answer about incubating peacock eggs for a man whose hen died,,, it was off the main page so quick but I knew I couldn't bump it back up without getting in trouble.
If you go to Recent posts and go all the way to the bottom of the page where it says "Jump to" you can hit unanswered posts.

I think alot of posts go unanswered because there is probably an ongoing thread about the same exact subject. Sometimes people post without reading other posts and they end up asking the same exact question just in a different way. I try to answer the posts with zero responses sometimes but then I start to think 'how many times can I answer the SAME question'. I think before people post, maybe they should do a search on what they are looking to find out. The search feature on this site has helped me alot. I admit, sometimes I get lazy and just ask the question before doing the search.

One of the biggest problems with the search feature is that you have to have it worded exactly the same as the other posts. If I say "chick with bent beak" and every post is under "chick with crossed beak" I get no hits. Then, there are some people who simply can't spell....AT ALL!!! Search can't possibly work for them.

Wow, it never occurred to me that people felt entitled to responses. I know I have some posts in the "unanswered" pile, and I just figured that no one knew the answer or no one particularly was interested enough to deal with it.....

Didn't occur to me to think there was anything wrong with that.

Sometimes you have to go searching elsewhere for answers. It's why we have Google, and lots of other resources....

I think one is a Modern Game Hen?? I have been looking myself but not sure. I didn't want to bumy my own thread cuz of the spamming thingy, lol.

I didn't even know that this section even existed. I will definitely strive to be more aware of it now though. Thanks for pointing that out dacjohns!

I totally agree and absolutely have thought the same thing many times and don't really worry too much about it if something I thought to post wasn't interesting to others, I'll live and as Susan said, if I NEED the info, I'll find it with google. On the other hand, I have also thought that there is soooo much activity on this forum that I typically only look at "my posts" and whatever is showing on the recent topics screen right in front of me when I sign on....otherwise, wow, it takes ALOT of time to get through so many posts!!
