Unbalanced and Lethargic Hen

Canelita sounds like quite a trouble maker! I'm happy to hear that they at least gave a warning! They're such smart animals

I know! It's so funny cuz people are always like oh it's just a stupid chicken.

But they are WAY smarter than people think they are.

I have this one hen who always finds a way to get to the food. Lol. They are, in fact,very smart, probably smarter than the average human. Lol!

Most animals are.

All they really need is a motivation to do something then, before you know it, they've already done it and they're making evil little plans to do something more naughty, and to teach the others how to do it too.

It's hard to tell because they all look so innocent and cute and fluffy!

Daisy was sooo smart! I taught her to play tic tac toe and our own version of hangman! She even knew the names of her favorite foods. If I was eating something she liked, like spaghetti, I would tell her to come get some spaghetti and she would run over! I've read somewhere that they're about as intelligent as a young child, which is incredible! Perhaps your birds are too smart with their evil little plans to take over the house!

I basically just would say the names of foods she liked until she understood it! Like, "Daisy have some yogurt!" and eventually if I told her I had yogurt, she knew it was something really yummy and came running over! As for the games, I would draw the tic tac toe board, and draw an X and O, have her pick one by pecking at it, and then she pecked on the board where she wanted her symbol. I usually let her win though!

Ohh I would definitely do that! I think as long as you teach them those sort of things young, they'll easily get the hang of it!

HI! I haven't been around cause I have serious back issues and haven't been doing well, but it sounds like everything is going well for you two!

Chickens are so much smarter then anyone realizes! As long as you start while they are chicks they can learn.We lost this chicken but we had a coffee can that we would tap like a drum. If we tapped it 2 times, it would. If we would tap it 5 times it would etc.! They never cease to amaze me! Chicky Woos123 you really should get a chick and try to teach her some tricks!! What breeds do you have? DaisyBird, have you decided on a breed you want yet? Oh.... we eat Morningstar veggie meat too and you're right it tastes just like the real stuff. Never get Boca....it tastes awful to me!!!!

I hope you're feeling better soon! And yes chickens are so smart! Your's sounds like she was really smart! I haven't fully decided on a breed yet. I'll likely go to the fair and see what they have, research the breeds, and pick some out the next day I haven't tried Boca chicken, only the burgers. MorningStar burgers are way better though!

Im so sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well lately. I hope you get better soon. As for the breeds of my hens, I'm not exactly sure, but I've been doing some research and I know the breed of 1 of my hens. Maybe you can tell me the breeds of my other 2 by their description? I know that one of them is one of those big fat white Cornish hens. Her name is Limonada, or Limo for short. Choco Chip, or Choco, is smaller than Limo, but she's got black dots all over her body and her head. Diamante, or Mante, is a tiny bit smaller than Choco, and she's got red feathers all over her neck and head. They all lay light brown eggs. Boca tastes terrible to me too. This is off subject but I'm heading in the direction of becoming vegetarian. It's so terrible how these poor cows, chickens, and pigs are killed, that it makes me sick. I might still continue to eat fish though. Not exactly sure. But I did good today, instead of getting a hamburger, I got a salad!
