Unbelievable egg buying experience

If eggs do not do well once and I really would like to hatch them I often get a second lot, but usually the second lot do no better. That is just my experience. Goes for peafowl same as chickens

I think your first lot you got from me did way better than this last:-(

Hey! That is fantastic news!!! With the mille fleurs, at this stage of the game at least, it is really a numbers game. The more you hatch, the better your chances for good mille fleur color to start with. Thanks so much for the updates! You will have to show pics of the babies when they hath. I be you get an amazing rainbow of colors out of that many eggs! More than halfway done.... pretty sooooooonnnnnnn...... peeep peeep peep!

Just a quick note, Phage...

I've left feedback for sellers that I contacted through PM's and not auctions with the old feedback system. The links are earlier in this thread and they still are active. Sounds like you're having good luck on your hatch! Awesome!!!

It is great to have feed back system with the auctions, but I wish there was somewhere you could post experiences if you buy eggs through pms and have not actually won an auction.

You can do that. There is the old beta system we had previously. It's still up and running. And, contrary to opinion, it is not only for auctions, but for any transactions between BYC members.

Here is your submission form.

To address a comment made above:

I've never found any fertility issues because the parents were related. They hatch just as well as any others, provided the overall health of the stock is good. Linebreeding is breeding related birds and is an old, highly successful system.

Line breeding in any livestock, dogs etc.. has been an acceptible practice for hundreds of years and how many "breeds" became so stamped with a type. When you don't cull resulting animals with the unwanted results is when issues arise and can cause more problems. I am surprised on how really close breeding in chickens is not such an issue. I am still trying to find out more on that. I have brabanter hens and a roo. Would like more in my flock so I am pondering keeping the peep if a hen integrated to my group or sell her and buy eggs for hatching and use those to add more genetics to my stock that may or maynot be related since this breed of chicken is so hard to get they must all be related to some point.

I have had similar experiences with OnTheSpot. After winning one of her outrageous auctions and many emails/PMs and hatching out two batches from her, I'm happy to now consider her a friend.

I'd like to point out that the nutrition of the laying hen is crucial for robust chicks. I feed my hens 22+ protein and lots of nutrition boosters when I know they'll be laying eggs for selling.

Shipped eggs should also be sent fat side up, as the air cell will naturally try to be in the uppermost position and if they are on their sides, the membrane gets pushed away down the side of the egg by the air cell. Many shippers don't realize this.

I love having a great shipped egg experience- many of mine have been from the farther sellers, as they take a plane rather than a bunch of trucks!

Latest awesome experience: OKCarla sent me a boatload of eggs when I only bought a bucket, and they were packed in her usual stellar manner. Love the way she works! Last shipment, I got ~20 eggs, and all but 2 developed, only 1 quit before I had a massive, brutal incubator malfunction...it didn't end well, but ought to have!!
