I'd like to point out that the nutrition of the laying hen is crucial for robust chicks. I feed my hens 22+ protein and lots of nutrition boosters when I know they'll be laying eggs for selling.
Shipped eggs should also be sent fat side up, as the air cell will naturally try to be in the uppermost position and if they are on their sides, the membrane gets pushed away down the side of the egg by the air cell. Many shippers don't realize this.
I love having a great shipped egg experience- many of mine have been from the farther sellers, as they take a plane rather than a bunch of trucks!
Latest awesome experience: OKCarla sent me a boatload of eggs when I only bought a bucket, and they were packed in her usual stellar manner. Love the way she works! Last shipment, I got ~20 eggs, and all but 2 developed, only 1 quit before I had a massive, brutal incubator malfunction...it didn't end well, but ought to have!!
