uncle dick’s grammar lesson

It’s like when kids used to ask “can I go to the bathroom?” in school and some of the teachers would go “I don’t know, can you?” 😂🤣😭🤚
i may have gotten detention a time or three for saying “yes, i can and i’m going to” and then walking out of the room.

The purpose of this forum is to share chicken-related and other information.
you know, i’ve brought that point up in a few other threads and was immediately smacked with a response along the lines of “bUt tHiS iS tHe RaNdOm SeCtIoN…”

so while i think your point has merit, i’ll point out that i wasn’t harshly criticizing anyone in my original post. it was merely helpfully offered information, there for whomever should decide to take advantage. an open letter, if you will.

And since grammar and what is now called Language Arts was the one subject in which I shone in school, I clicked on it, lol! (Class of '70, several lifetimes ago.) Sadly, however, those who are interested in these skills probably already have them, as well as their own treasured copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves, so in their cases, you're preaching to the choir. And those who couldn't care less (yes, I said, "couldn't") are just here to harass, argue and annoy you.

In either case, it should provide some entertainment, provided you don't take yourself too seriously. 😉 Have fun! There is another ongoing thread along these lines, by the way. Can't recall the name of it but someone will probably point you to it. @electrycmonk , perhaps?

Incidentally, I suffer from a visual difficulty. Capital letters at the beginning of sentences provide a helpful visual cue to me that one sentence has ended and another is beginning. Without caps, a block of text looks like an amorphous fog. A period at the end of sentences is not enough to break up the text in a meaningful way. But you do what works for you.

that’s another reason i usually separate all of my sentences whenever i type posts on forums.

i browse exclusively on my phone, and anything longer than a few lines looks like a jumbled mess, caps or no caps.

/gentlemanly bow @BigBlueHen53 i’m humbled by your suggestion. Alas I’m not sure which thread specifically your referencing….
There are a bunch in a sub forum in here that has a heading of rambling & chatting topics….
And I seriously doubt you’d be referring to my haiku thread as it’s well, definitely “Not” a random chatter thread.

FWIW I have not read this thread. Being one with dyslexia & a struggler with grammar …. I’ll see my way out now.

/end of line.
