uncooked beans

    We feed our flock of 28 uncooked beans from our garden with out knowing they are toxic! We feed them for a few days, are we going to get sick if we eat their eggs??! I'm pregnant and i've been eating the eggs and i'm very worried. [​IMG]

    Do you mean green string beans? or the hard ones like navy beans?

    I've eated string green beans right off the plant and even fed a few to my kids. Yes, they definitely contain toxins but at a low level. A few here and there are not a problem. I don't know much about chickens passing toxicity through eggs, but I don't think there would be an issue if the chickens show no signs of distress or death.

    Pregnancy wise, you can err on the side of caution; but the toxicity level is so low in string green beans, I wouldn't be concerned.

    They will be fine! I feed my birds fresh green beans all the time in the summer..
