Under weight flock

The withdrawal time is the amount of time you are supposed to not consume the eggs (or meat, I imagine) of treated animals. For example, you dose Suzie the hen with something on June 1st and the withdrawal period for that product is 10 days... you should not consume any of her eggs for the next 10 days. Then on June 10th you dose her with the product again, now it's going to be June 20th before you can eat any of her eggs.

Safeguard passes through the bird's gut rather quickly, so in MY case I personally will consume eggs and feed them to my dog during the withdrawal period. I will not, however, sell or give away the eggs. I PERSONALLY think the amount of Safeguard that I'm being exposed to is so tiny, and the risks so negligible, that it doesn't bother me to eat the eggs, but each person should come to their own conclusions on that point.

That is not the correct dosage for Safeguard. First off, do NOT dilute it. Given straight from the bottle with a needless syringe or eyedropper, the dosages are: 1.0cc for giants; 0.75cc for large fowl; 0.5 cc for standard-size fowl; 0.25 cc for small fowl. Re-dose after 10 days. There is a 14-day withdrawal period on the eggs.
This information on the Safeguard was given to me from someone that have talked to more than one livestock vet and has spent some researching it. I believe you can do the math from right off the bottle.
At 1.0mL/cc you are giving your chicken the same amount as you would give a 50lb goat. Dont sound right to me...

With only giving a pea size of the horse wormer, would it be safe for my to consume their eggs?
Not saying your right or wrong Chris, but it could be like dogs. The dose you give fish in fish flex(antibiotics) your give to a medium size dog

With any medication, you're taking a chance in eating the eggs. I gave my birds amoxicillin for bumblefoot two years back. I KNOW I'm allergic to amoxicillin, so I did not eat the eggs for about 10 days afterward. However, my husband did with no issues. And I fed some eggs back to the birds (which many people will tell you NOT to do because of residual medication), but I saw no effects as a result (in myself).

The egg/meat withdrawl is because most people don't know how they'll react to certain wormers or antibiotics... Personally, since we give wormers to our dogs and cats, I doubt they'd cause negative effects in humans. But most would rather be safe than sorry, ESPECIALLY if/when eggs are being sold or distributed to others.
