Under weight laying hens

Hey Pet1Sally, while it is all good because you have given me and others the opportunity to say Hi :frow I did just want to mention that you have posted your question in the New Member Introduction Forum.

You would probably get more responses if you tried on the Feeding and Watering Your Flock Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/feeding-watering-your-flock.12/

Or, if you check out the Topic of the Week articles, there is a section on ‘Feeding The Flock; with discussions on feeding table scraps, what to feed and when, feeding treats etc.

Hi,

I'd be inclined to de-worm your flock, if you have not done so recently.

Teila is quite correct - you will be the best advice on the forum she mentions.

Check for worms, mites and lice. If they do not have them, Make sure the feed has enough protein and limit their treats.

Welcome to BYC. Look at the brand of feed or type, and try others. My chickens will eat crumbles or pellets, and most brand, but one I bought, they would not eat. Parasites could be possible, or feeding too many treats. A good age appropriate balance grower or layer feed is best for 90% of their diet. Clean water daily helps as well.
