Underground RR Quilt Block

Well here it is this will be the "binding" fabric hopefully tying the whole quilt together.

I really wanted a butterfly fabric that wasn't fru fru or cutesy. Something "old" and woodsy and the linear print is icing on the cake.

Up to my neck in tamales and salsa verde. Hubby butchered 2 big roosters for the occasion and one of my teen sons is now picking the cooked meat off of the bones.

Wishing everyone also a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A Very sad day at our house.

Something killed and ate my 5 LF hens ,3 speckled sussex and 2 bared rocks. So all I have left is 3 bantams. It rained heavy during the night and AM so we can't see any tracks only feathers, bones and a bit of flesh left. so it must have been a coon or opossum. That is a lot of chicken to be eaten at once though.
My husband fell down the back steps yesterday, he is okay thank goodness.
The canary he got me for Christmas died after 3 days! 2015 has got to be better than this or we are in big trouble.
I hope that the Christmas Season went well for everyone.

How heartbreaking!

I don't think you're dealing with a coon though. Usually, they will pull off the heads and eat that plus the crop... and that's about all. I don't know about the security of your coops but dogs is what came to mind. Now usually, a dog will kill every bird in sight and not eat one but if he or they are hungry, they might. Or a bear.

I agree 5 large totally eaten chicken is a bit much for a coon and certainly an opossum, domestic dogs generally kill for sport and kill everything and leave them dead and scattered, usually if they eat anything it will be the backsides and exposing the organs. I would bet a bear or something big like that. Maybe a pack of wild dogs like wolves or something????
