I just want to say kassaundra reworked my block because I goofed and sent her one of my short blocks,

I though I had them all separated, if for some reason you want another block just let me know or if you want some of the fabric I can send it to you. I have to admit that block was trying, should have let Mary the master have that one when she wanted it, we live and learn.since doing that pattern I have found patterns that are a lot easier go figure.
Coldupnorth and I split Plaidbattleaxe's blocks which were the shoofly, so you will see 2 different color combinations for that block if you received a purple and white shoofly then you have one from Coldupnorth and mine is burnt orange filigree with a cream/yellow

katsdar I think that Anna6 is out of town and can't get to her mail. I know kassaundra photo will help her . These blocks look the best of all we have done! at least of the ones I have been in.
I got one of the small ones and reworked it too I hope you don't mind

I used the red fabric from my block and reset the bow tie on to that.
I can see how you had trouble with that design of the block, I had to got back to my many years of dressmaking to get it to lay right, usually that site has easier blocks But Not That One

Okay ladies I have been stash diving, pillaging and plotting, what do you think? I took a random darker and lighter block for comparison. The brown butterfly fabric will be the inner sash at 2.5 finished, and the rr tracks pieced sash will be 1.5 inch finished. The corner butterfly fabric will be a friendship star w/ probably a blue fabric. The tracks will be more precisely sewn, and instead of fussy cutting the dark stripe I will just use a dark solid fabric.

Just got home this afternoon. I was able to go to a local poultry show over the weekend. Had fun but it's the first time I've been able to go for several years and this year is the first time my daughter did not go with me. She's busy doing her own thing these days and so I have to learn how to make friends.

I actually got my RR blocks on Thursday but hadn't had time to post. The bow tie one, I will likely rework as it won't lay down correctly. I'll have to look up somewhere and see if I can find instructions for it.

Thank you too for the nail file! It is so cute! Nice and small and will fit in my small purse and hopefully keep me from picking my nails to the quick if I get a small defect in an edge!

Regarding my block, the dark center does represent the darkness of slavery but the appliqued part does not. It represents something hidden from prying eyes and I just thought it would be fun to see if you ladies could figure out what that "starfish" represents. Any guesses?

kassaundra I really like that combo.

My DH is going to chose a 24" medialion block for the center and he has a fabric already picked for it. My final outer border to get to a full size quilt will be in a brown close to your butterfly fabric.

Oh, and I plan to make mine with the 24" Carpenters Wheel for the center. I was trying to figure out some kind of sashing for between the blocks and thank you Kassaundra, a railroad track sounds perfect. Now we'll have to see if I'm up for that much work.

If you find a stripe print it really won't be to hard, one strip cross cut w/ two narrow rows sewn in parallel to each other perpendicular to the stripes. If you get a solid close to the dark stripe color no fussy cutting at all.

I think I figured my blocks w/ sashing will be 16 inches so my big square will be 32 inches. I had some wool set aside for some long lost forgotten project. I am going to use the wool for the applique part of the big square, the rose of Sharon wreath. I am also going to add 4 regular size squares w/ words on them, I am going to use the wool fabric to applique the words on. You ladies know what a huge Whovian I am, one of the key phrases in Doctor Who I feel is so appropriate for both the slaves and those that helped them, it is "Never cruel, never cowardly, never give up, never give in"
