love the fabrics, and yes moved into my forever home a little old farm house with lots of land behind me for the dogs to run in.

Someone asked about the wedding plans and for the life of me I can't find who I need to reply to, but to answer your question, his fiancee's family is very involved so I have not been in the planning of the event, but I'm sure that will change when my son gets home about the 15th of Nov. as he is leaving the Navy and going to start a new career and he has had some great job offers so far.

Just wondering katsdar, your son was in the Navy. He's coming out on the 15th of Nov. and mine is going in on the 18th of Nov. What was his specialty and how long did he serve?

I'm hoping he will come out after his 5 year requirement is fulfilled. Apparently the National Guard reserves jobs for their people. So, after 5 years in the Navy, if he transfers (or whatever) to the National Guard, maybe he will be able to be close by.

I know this is off topic so if you want to respond by pm, that is fine.

I don't mind off topic conversations I think that is what makes us a family

My son spent 9 years in service and he says his heart just isn't in it anymore. He works on the airplanes electronics repairs them and runs diagnostics. What field has your son chosen?

He is going into the Sea Bees or CB (construction battalion). He likes building stuff and he can get a good education in it... possibly enough to come out in 5 years as a contractor. I've told him that there is nothing wrong with hard work when you're young as long as you don't hurt yourself. Construction is very hard work. But you want to go beyond that because when you're 50 years old, you don't want to be doing the grunt work. There's a lot of young men to take your place. What you want is to work hard, know the job, and rise above to the point you can become a leader in your field. In the field of construction, the leader is the contractor.

So, that's what he is going to do I think. He learned that he liked construction by working with me. Before we moved over here, he came over and spent a week with me here. We were constructing cages inside a fairly large barn. He has also helped me in the construction of my small coop that I'm building from the ground up. I think he will do well.

Almost done with my blocks!!! Then need to get some lap quilts done for kiddos for xmas.
