Understanding Diabetes

I thought for sure she will absolutely forbid herself any white stuff, that includes her favorite, baked potatoes. She does not like sweet potatoes. Sure my Dad does not have the "same" reaction with his diabetes with hers. Hers was a very long time, waiting for the time bomb to go off. Not only diabetes, but HPB, danger levels of stroke anytime and she watches her blood glucose tests every time, three times a day, hoping to bring it down.

All I can do is to encourage her to keep exercising and watching how she eats. She does not want any candies or sweets of any kind which it is a shame. She loves her butter creme candies but it would make her blood sugar go sky high and leave her feeling ucky.

Their insurance will not pay for any type of diabetic counseling or classes, they are on Social Security and not much of anything else. Maybe the hospital will have some free clinics that I have seen in the paper about blood screenings, paps, breast scans and all those nice things for free to the elderly.
