Unemployment almost 10% nationally

Your family must be pretty wealth if they had to sell land to pay their estate tax.
Give us the details.

Not so ....I have some land .what its worth is what my sons will have to pay about half of that in taxes...sure they would have to sell it to pay the taxes.........if wealth they could just pull money from other places........

I am no tax expert here, but unless you are talking about a very large sum like a 750K plus property, I do not think you need to pay taxes if done right through a lawyer. I say this with some confidence my Dad just died a year ago and my Mom liquidated the estate sold the farm to a family member and gifted the proceeds. I don't know if it is a state by state thing or what.?

Boycott wal-mart the largest retailer of Chinese products.

I do both of those things for the most part already... I am a firm believer in voting with your pocket book.. Heck I am against Soy and Monsanto corp and industrial agriculture, so I make my own chicken feed! We read labels on everything we buy...

Some times, honestly I think it is the only "vote" that counts.

Yes i understand insurance....that payed fo unemployment for the first 26 weeks ....after that the rest is payed by the Federal Goverment with Tax's dollars.

Last I checked I pay taxes out of our unemployment still... and those who are not unemployed pay into it... when we go back to work we pay into it. Just like all insurances, some people pay into it their entire life and never use it, others end up using it constantly. Maybe increase how much everyone pays into it to extend it.

After a few speeding tickets and accidents my husband's insurance went up... but they still paid... they still covered everything. No one said "Hey, we don't think we should have to pay for this accident because you've already used your insurance... but we want you to keep paying premiums."

Besides... 10% unemployment will only look like 6% unemployement if we don't extend benefits. What kind of reality is that... oh wait... the kind where CRIME is going to increase to make up for it. Safe neighborhoods won't be in situations like this. You are creating desperate people... and desperate people are dangerous... and they will cost us to put up in the prisons rather then try to shell out a few more months unemployment.

Unemployment insurance is payed for by the employer...not tax payers. Thats for the first 26 weeks....after that same as wefare pay for my the working man, don't care to help those need it.........but not for those that can make more money setting home ,when they turn down low paying jobs.

Maybe we should stop sending money out to help other countries national disasters... or maybe you should be president since you are so up on where other people should go with the help they need? Maybe China will take the rest of us.

The federal estate tax rules keep changing. Under a 2001 act the first $3.5 million was exempt in 2009. In 2010 there is no estate tax. Under the 2001 act it will return in 2011 with only a $1 million exemption, but lawmakers are expected to enact new legislation to make the exemption somewhere from $3.5 to $5 million.

So your telling me that if my property is worth under a million , I don't have to worry about them paying a large death tax when i die....GREAT NEWS

Hopefully they will extend benefits and extend the tax cuts for people under 250k in a lame duck session. Not much time though. Once the new guys are sworn in they might as well just go home and play poker. Save the electricity.
