Hi guys

My girlfriend surprised me with an early Christmas present - 4 chicks. A Buff Brahma Standard, Black Austrolorp, Buff Orpington and the fourth one was actually in a box with other chicks who were left over so we decided to add her to the crew.

It's so cool how each have their own little personalities and although I was wary at first I've started to love them. I'm a digital marketer and web designer so I'm able to stay home to watch the chickens with my Goldendoodle, Doobie. It's a nice break from monotonous work.

I've been referring to threads on here for the past 6 weeks as my chickens have grown. I'm excited to actually be a part of the forums and interact and learn more!

Your girlfriend is a great gift-giver! And how cool that you took the fourth chick! I like mixed breed flocks -- it really makes it easier when the time comes to figure out whose eggs are whose.

Well, Unexpected Chicken Dad, it sounds like you are hooked -- and will be a great addition to this group. Welcome to BYC, Gage!!

Hey. Welcome aboard! And look at that ... you've already had your first lesson in chicken keeping. You hadn't even left the store yet and you had one more chick than you planned. That's an introductory chicken class: Chicken Math 101!
