Unexpected chicks from broody hen...when to move them??

I love how protective Mamma's are, mine kept running off our pitt bull, that was funny... the dog would just turn and look at us as if to say " Hey did I just get a whoopen from a CHICKEN?"

I let my roos out yesterday to play with the hens for a bit....one started running over to the broodies.....she puffed her wings out and spread her tail - he stopped dead in his tracks! Turned and came back to the group

I guess he knew she meant "no!"
