Tahi is getting her blue feathers! ♡

The chicks now have feathers all over. They started to fight a little. Probably just the pecking order, right? I'm predator-proofing an outside enclosure rn to get them out during warm days. But of course, when I started that, it got cold again...
What kind of bird is she?

She is a pukeko, or purple swamphen! And she's doing great.
Where's da Pukeko?

There you go! Even though she's technically ready for living on her own, she still begs for food whenever I come past. She even still wobbles her wings sometimes I'm the begging manner. She looks simply stunning because her plumage is such a bright, pretty blue now that it just pulls your attention towards her. She is also starting to practice for learning how to fly, at times she just runs through the garden at full speed flopping her wings, but she's still too fat for her wings so it looks super silly! Very cute.

The two pullets will be going to their new home on saturday! I'm a bit sad but also very happy they are going to a loving home :)

Anna and Elsa have gone to their new home and met their new friend! They are now happy backyard chickens.
I was very nervous about putting them with an old chicken, but my friend didn't want to give her back, as she would've gone back to life in a dark garage if they didn't work out. Her friend died a few weeks ago of old age, so she was lonely. I expected fighting, but she was super calm and nothing happened for 15 minutes, after that there was just a bit of chasing and they settled quickly. Worked out really well!
