Don't know if this is the right place to be asking this, but it makes them most sense to ask under "managing your flock", so here it goes. I have a few SLW and BR, and they are laying decent enough, and I have plenty that are fertilized too and I incubate when I can. My problem is eating them though. When I hard boil them, I have the poblem where the shell loves to stick to the inside of the egg and I end up pulling a bunch of the "good stuff" off with the shell. Then I am left with shredded egg white, yolk and a bunch of tiny eggshell pieces in it. The shell also likes to break into very small pieces too and is a pain to peel. As for taste, they are fine. I have never had this problem with eggs before, and I feed them Orschelns 16% Layer crumbles, as well as table scraps and the leftover shells from eggs. I collect my eggs everyday and keep them fresh. My eggs are never in my fridge for longer than 3 days before they are eaten. Anybody ever have this problem? Should I change their diet or maybe add some vinegar to the water when boiling? I run them under cold water after boiling them as I have heard this helps, but to no avail. Anybody??

Your eggs are too fresh. The older they are, the easier to peel them. Keep eggs for a few weeks in the fridge and then boil them. There are tricks with boiling them and then submerge them in ice water and then another minute boiling and ice again and that sort of thing but just letting them get older will do the trick. Eggs will keep in the fridge for a couple months so there is no rush to eat them.

Fresh eggs do not hard boil well. It is just an unfortunate fact and has nothing to do your birds birds or what you are feeding them. I use my oldest eggs for hard boiling and will sometimes save out a batch for a few weeks and hard boil those. It helps a lot.

I made deviled eggs the other day 4 of the eggs where layed that morning all came out great what did I do I baked the eggs did not boil them

the only prob I had is some eggs where not the white of white eggs and where the shell was touching the pan left brown spot you can see on 3rd egg chick. but I would say out of the 2 dozen eggs I did that way only 3 had issues coming out of there shell but my teenager was also the one the DE shelled those eggs

I feel like I should have known that lol.... I will have to try the cooking methods described and find out what works best. I am going to be selling eggs to friends in the future after my other hens mature, and I would need to tell them a proper method for hardboiling. Thanks!

I add a dash of baking soda to the water I boil them in and then as soon as they are done I drop them in an ice bath. Quick cooling seems to do the trick to get them to peel.
