This is my video. This is the one with clubbed feet hatching. Look at the egg at the end. That's the one with the dark spot. I just removed the 2 that hatched from the incubator and I hear chirps coming from the egg in question! Still no pip. Fingers crossed!!This was your video? And the duckling hatched?
Prayers for your duckie! This is my video. This is the one with clubbed feet hatching. Look at the egg at the end. That's the one with the dark spot. I just removed the 2 that hatched from the incubator and I hear chirps coming from the egg in question! Still no pip. Fingers crossed!!
I did not make a hole in it. The duckling has internally pipped now so I think it will be able to hatch on its own. If the chirps begin to sound faint or like the duckling is in trouble I will. I have been researching the different ways to correct the clubbed feet. I'm confident one foot will be fine with a shoe but the other looks like it will never be right. I do think I can get him walking but I think he will always have a gimp. That’s awesome!! So happy for you it’s going to hatch. Did you make the safe hole like @WVduckchick rec? And did you look at the link that gives ideas on how to help when there are foot an leg issues?
I'm not sure if you remember but I believe we chatted on a post about momma (Lily) back in April, when she had a mystery illness. Lily is a Khaki Campbell. Dad (Roan) is the black duck in my profile pic he's a Mallard. You may remember him from the same thread, as that was when I brought him home as well. I had concerns about theses ducklings from the beginning because the father is so young and just reached the age where he can reproduce. I wasn't thrilled when Lily decided to sit but I was even less thrilled when she abandon the nest. That’s great you have been looking into helping. And very excited about this duckling internally pipped!! Boy I don’t think I ever saw such a great hatch as your one, it wanted out of that egg shell fast. lol. What breed?
Yes now you sparked my memory! Thanks. Well some times first time mamas don't do so well. And so many have had the broodiness bred out of them too and they are more for production.I'm not sure if you remember but I believe we chatted on a post about momma (Lily) back in April, when she had a mystery illness.
