Unhatched Eggs

Most likely. Sometimes they leave viable eggs though in a staggered hatch because the chicks that have already hatched need to be led to food and water
Alright, I'm guessing there was days between some of the hatches because I'm pretty sure at least 2 or 3 of the eggs were added after she started brooding. It was hard to keep track because she wouldn't really let me near her.

I am first time chicken keeper. My hen went broody, she was laying on 12 eggs, 2 I think got stepped on or smashed. i took some of them from her and put them in an incubator. 1 hatched with er. so very exciting, that was March 31st.
I put 5 in the incubator, 2 have hatched successfully, April 20 and April 26th. How long do I keep the other 3 in the incubator?
I did candle them at day 14 and 18 and all looked good, but I am new to this.
The 3 chicks are thriving and with mom, separate from the flock

Candle the eggs and check for signs of life. From what you are saying the eggs are hatching several days apart so you would not have a clue what day they are on. You are very lucky the mom took the chicks. Normally that would not work well. Next time pick eggs that are added after the hen sets.

oh wow, thank you. I had no idea the hen would not accept them. When the first one successfully hatched, she abandoned the eggs to protect the chick. So I took them and put them in the incubator. I am counting my blessings and not planning on hatching any more in the future. So happy she has accepted them.
Thanks so much
