Well, I was planning on going yesterday but plans got changed. I'll have some of our Black Cochin LF birds for sale at Morganton in April, hopefully. They should be fantastic by then.

Just have to get my "two cents" in about the Salisbury show. A big thank you to Matt A for directions, times, etc. and answering my rooster question. A big thank you to Matt for introducing me to Janine and for showing me around the grounds, and for answering my questions. A big thank you to Cheyenne for sharing her birds with me. Everyone at BYC is sssoooooo helpful ; moreso than any other online group. There aren't enough thanks to give to Janine--poor thing got trapped by me...she took the time to give me a 0ne-on-one inservice about Silkies (my breed of choice). I had a WONDERFUL time, and had even decided, on the 3 1/2 hour drive home, that I would show some of my birds at Morganton. My Silkies have been ready--but their mom (me) wasn't.
I didn't bring any new birds home, but my birds at home are better off with the new knowledge their mom has.

BYC IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!

Cheyenne was more than happy to share her silkies. Everyone has to learn. We bought basic non-bearded silkies at first. We had no idea that there were bearded. We now have more bearded and very few of the nonbearded. We do not show for points, just for fun. We might one day, but like I said, we still have more to learn ourselves. Hope to see you in Winston and Greensboro.

Thanks to Star Cochins from Georgia. We got a nice trio of blue, black and splash cochins from them. They are super friendly birds and beautiful. We hope to get some pics of them today to post.

I would love to hear and see more of the Salisbury Show from Saturday , really wanted to attend but that drive was a little to far for us.
But , I plan on attending the Morganton show in April.

The show was great it was my second time. There were lots of birds being shown and lots of people selling. I purchased some GREAT COCHINS from Judy Gantt her birds are amazing. The only thing I was dissapointed about was I didnt see any quality silkies being sold but I did get there a little late. And you cant have everything.

HI Sandy it was my pleasure introducing you to Janine she is extremely helpful and knows her stuff. Im sad you left empty handed but it sounds like you learned alot and Good luck at the Morganton Show!

Oh yes I also bought 2 young pullets from Matt A they are very healthy and robust.

It was great to see ya'll again, sorry we couldn't spend more time, ds felt really bad, so we had to leave and then come back with that roo. I couldn't get over to the junior section due to the judging, how did Cheyenne's silkies do? From what I could see, they looked beautiful!

Greenfamilyfarm, I hope that I could get some mostly hens and one roo. After seeing all of the birds in the builing, I am absolutely in love!!

Shelly, I can only speak for us, we couldn't spend a lot of time there, ds was really feeling sick, and still is, but after dropping him off, dd and I went back, walked around for awhile, got to talk to fellow chicken lovers and it was a really nice time.

: It was our first chicken show, but we really enjoyed it! I may be coming to the Morganton one, I have a very good friend up in Marion that if we went, we could spend the night with.

The show was great, but meeting folks was better. I like to talk and chickens folks don't seem to mind. I walked till my legs were shot, I really need to lose weight. I was disappointed that there were only 2 Turkeys, but the rest was really great.

I hope everyone that got chicks from me is happy with them. I sold 34 of 35 that I took. 35 was marked with green dye and shouldn't have gone in the first place, so I had to hold it back. It is a boy. The 19 that stayed here and that 1 are my new layers for later in the year. The Aussie boy that I keep will be for breeding for future layers. I love the Australorps for layers.

The chicks were raised on a 50/50 mix of 20% protein starter and 30% protein game starter. This has always gotten them off to a good start for me and my customers.

I hope to see everyone again at the next 2 shows.

Hi Matt!
Sorry we didn't get to meet you this go round, but we're planning on going to the Morganton show!
I didn't get to see the turkeys, but that Goose in the building just cracked dd up!! He was doing everything to get her to notice him, including jabbering, showing the empty water dish, where the food was...

It was a riot!
I am really looking foward to the next one, that was more fun than I've had in a LONG time!!

Melinda,

I hope to get some pics on here. We are so busy with bulding the new barn/coop for the chickens, I hardly have time. She did pretty well. Her blue hen got BB, Reserve feather leg and her splash hen got BV1 and her splash roo got RV1. He usually beats the female, but I guess the female looked a bit better this time, which I agree. He needs to fill out more from the winter. The ducks competed amongst themselves. There are never enough ducks. Winston was her best show as far as the ducks. I guess we will only take them there. Not worth it at the other shows at this point.

I know ya'll are busy, but your birds are just beautiful, all of them! I don't know enough about ducks at this point , so I'm learning as I go along.

Poppy, the little tiny black silkie female, is going well after that wry neck. She's beyond sweet, she'll walk up onto your shoes if you don't pay attention to her.

Now if Robbie doesn't shut up crowing at 2 and 3 am.... he might have to go too!

I'll keep Poppy and not worry about hatching eggs when she does start laying I'll just give her a bunch of eggs to sit on or chicks she can look after....

Can you believe it's March already?? We've been so cold for so long that our garden is way overdue!! Even now I'm still on the lookout for freezing.
