I like to use a dog shampoo that includes flea and tick protection. Hartz is usually good. And you can also get the no tear kind so if gets in their eyes it wont burn. I spray with Adams Flea and Tick for dogs after the bath. Make sure you sit them under a heat lamp or keep them somewhere warm to dry that is draft free. Trim their toe nails and file top portion of the beak so you do not have an overlap. It is best to wash birds at least 3 days in advance of the show to allow time for the bird to preen and relpace the oils in it's feathers. I am sure everyone had their own technique for bathing and shampoo choices. Just use what is best for you and safe.

And best of all invite all your close friends over to watch you give your chicken it's first bath!!

My countdown has started.

I'm going to try to rest this late afternoon because I have to get up at 3:00AM, so I can leave the house by 4:00 to make sure I'm there at 7:00. Matt said 160 leg feather in the show, that's a serious competition.

I'm not a professional breeder, so I'm doing this just to see if my girls are "officially" pretty

I will have three chickens for sale as well, if anyone is interested. One white cochin bantam hen, 2010 hatch, was laying until few weeks ago when she started molting. ($10)
I will also have a pair of Millie Fleur D'Uccle 2010 hatch. I recently bought a trio, but I only wanted one hen. So I'm keeping one hen and sale the pair. The birds are clean and very pretty, however larger than what I was expecting, the hen was in the Salisbury show last year and she is non-bearded. The seller was NPIP certified.($20 for the pair).
I am also considering selling one of the two hens I will have in the show, a Buff Brahma bantam 2010 hatch. I have 3 Buff Brahma hens (excellent layers) but I would like to getone Silver Seabright hen, and since I have already more chickens than what I need, I will sell some of the doubles. This hen is very special to me, and I will only let her go to a good home. It is a lot more important to me to know that she will be loved, than how much money I can make for her.
So, if anyone is interested look me up tomorrow morning.

I missed the picture last time, but this time I’ll be there in time for it, if Matt wants to take another picture. I am looking forward to see you all tomorrow. The only people I spoke with last time were Gavin and briefly Matt.
