Most of my original flock are pretty smart - it's their children that seem to be slightly off. They couldn't figure out how to get back in the house after leaving that morning - for months. I'd go out at dusk and have to pick them up from their roost on top of the pen and carry them back in to the hen house. It's not that complicated. Every so often one will do it again, but at least now when I open the human door they pick themselves up and go in.
