Hi everyone!

I have two cute bantam chickens but I am unsure of their breed, age and gender. All I know is that they are CUTIES! The lady who sold them to me said they came as a shipment of mixed bantam eggs.

Here they are. I think the white is 3 months old. I have no idea how old the buff is.

The siblings of the withe chicken all have large combs now, but some are much darker than this. The tips of the comb on this chicken are still very pale. The feathers on the neck look pretty rounded at the tip.

This is the real mystery bird. Super sweet, easy going and soooo tiny!
BTW, why is this on its side?

Thanks for your help!

They could be cochin mixes! She told me at first they were cochins, then later said they were a mix of many breeds. That me uncertain...

mixed bantam eggs i'm sure means something like a few cochin, a few d'uccle, a few game, ect and not mixed breed. those look 110% cochin and not mixes

Thanks everyone! So is the buff chicken a cochin? Cochin mix? Is she so much smaller because she is the girl? She is tiny like a parakeet!

Both are Cochins - a buff pullet and a white cockerel. Some bantam Cochins can be quite tiny. My daughter has a black frizzled Cochin bantam hen that is almost 3 years old but looks like she's about 2 months old in size.

Thanks for all of your help fellow fowl philes! I will report if the white chicken crows :) Seeing this one in the context of his/her hatchmates makes me less confident about the gender than many of you :) Maybe I am just filled with youthful optimism!
