It's one of those stories,,,, I purchased several Hen's from a guy. In the purchase He mentioned that he also would sale this beautiful Black Orpington. But she was sitting. And come to find out. A nabor had brought some eggs over for her to hatch.
Soooo,,, we ended up with the hole barn yard mix. The nabor doesn't remember what egg's were brought over. LOL
No matter what they are. We Luv them.
So, sounds like barnyard mixes. There's something barred, likely a barred Rock, and something feather legged. Beyond that, who knows? But they're adorable, and getting to watch a momma hen raise chicks is a wonderful experience!
Since they're barred, you could possibly get a hint on gender. If the neighbor had only barred hens, and no barred roosters, these chicks are male as the barring is sex linked. If the rooster was barred, all bets are off as to telling gender until around 6 weeks.
Thanks Donrae,,,
You are so right on watching Mom,, and Baby's.
Nevertheless,, we luv them no matter what they are. Or sex that they turn out to be.
I do however have one more pic to try identifing
