I have 10 2 year old hens and 5 days ago I introduced 30 adolescent chicks to the flock. everything seemed to be going fine. during the day all of the chickens go out in a thousand square feet fenced area. today when I got home in the back corner of the chicken coop were three dead adolescents. there was no blood or puncture wounds. could this be the chickens doing this? it was very bizarre, because there were 3 dead. I've seen pecking order before and that has been one target chick and bloody. I'm not sure what to do. thanks for your input!
now I am thinking it could be heat stroke? they had water, but it was our first really hot day of 98+ degrees. thoughts?
