Unknown Killer

Yup. I agree with Penny. It sounds like a mink or weasel. I’ll go with mink though. Your weasels are relatively small there. But a mink would have no problem moving a brick or getting into a small opening that you may not see yourself.

I went out with my benelli and a box of shells last night. I couldnt believe there was a family of coons heading right for the door! (I think a mom and 3 babies) don’t know if it’s out of season or what, but they needed to go. I saw a opossum a few hours later. I shot and missed. (Come on give me a break it’s night lol) he did run and didn’t return the rest of the night. Somehow I forgot to coop up a rooster and he chased after the opossum. I was afraid it got him but he came back a few minutes later. I guess it’s opossum time now

Traps work while you’re asleep. ;)

In years past I have used leg traps but more people are buying property and building in our area so I have seen more and more dogs and cats. So now I put some live traps out. Not long ago I caught a couple of cats that I released. First I bait them and keep them open to lure the predators and see what comes. After they get used to going into the traps I set them. Awhile back I had a fox killed my most special bird during the middle of the day. I caught the fox. I have game cameras in several spots around on my property.

I just watched someones video last week showing a ra oon who got in to someones garage, lifting the garage door enough to get out! Thats alot more than 5 lbs.
Also you dont mention what you have as far as fencing for your cages or pens. If its chicken wire thats no good and needs to be replaced with hardware cloth.
The picture below shows one of the smallest preditors that easily will kill entire flocks overnight.

We’ve got a lot of foxes around here but they don’t seem to have found the coop yet. I mean I have one mounted do you think they aren’t scared

As far as fencing, it’s 1/2 inch square garden fence. (Bantam chicks can’t get out is why I like it! We’ve never had a problem with anything ripping our fence, just things figuring out how to get in another way. Bantams have always been their target and not our ducks, turkeys, or normal chickens. Is it because the other birds are not in a cage so they are able to run?
