There's also the fact that it's very hands on compared to ether and as you pointed out would require a bit of strength.

If this is a euthanasia case and the animal is not going to be used for sustenance, then I would opt for the ether.

My email is currently down. I'm really sorry you have to go through this. The procedure Miss Lydia recommended is a very good one, I've used it. The other humane option is neck dislocation. There are several methods for that but look up the broomstick method on YouTube.
