Unlikely encounters ***Pictures***

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Glad you got them off the road!!! I hate when animals lay in the road because it's warm... I even stop for snakes and "walk" them off the road too.

I would have probably kept herding them right on home.... to my house!

And that certainly is a once in a lifetime experience.. So lucky it was you who found them and got them to safety. What an odd bunch.. I have a lone adult goose at the moment- but seeing just one with all those scovies is kinda odd.

Which ones? Muscovies have got to be the ugliest waterfowl in the world.

Looking at pictures on the internet, I use to feel the same way. But of course online you are going to find some of the most bizarre cases. After searching on BYC about them and seeing some of the members pictures, I have changed my opinion. I recently acquired 2 Muscoies myself and have fallen in love. They remind me of 2 over grown gray doves. They have funny personalities and are very curious. I laughed my butt off watching them learn their new enviroment. They will walk up to something new and look at it by turning their heads from side to side, stretch their necks out toward it, look some more and then give it a taste test. If it doesn't move or try to eat them, they move on to the next object. This process goes on and on. I have my Mallard descendant ducks that I love also, but Muscovies are in a class of their own. My Pekins, Rouens, Buff and Anconas are in a hurry wherever they go, and sound like a herd of elephants, the Muscovies just ease along like they don't have a care in the world. The only time they get in a hurry is when a chicken gets too close. They are PETRIFIED of my chickens. And don't get me started on their "whistling", it's just too cute.

In GA they might well be wild but those are not the wild type and you seldom find them hanging with a goose unless they were brought up together. My birds liked to sit on blacktop on cool mornings once the road and birds had warmed up they would stay away.

I personally want to Thank you for taking the time to get them off of the road out of harms way.....I also thank you for sharing those Great photos with us.
