Sooo, i jungal fowl are ancient chickens which eggs evolved into chickens today, wouldn't that mean the chicken came first? But the egg had to create the jungle fowl, soooo, I'm confused!Incidentally, jungle fowl (the oldest things we could look at and say "that's probably a chicken or chicken adjacent") first show up in the fossil record in the late Miocene (5-10 million years ago). And the earliest members of Phasianidae (ground nesting birds like pheasants, turkeys and chickens) show up in the fossil record in the Oligocene about 30 million years ago. Thereby thoroughly showing that the egg predates the chicken in chicken lineage by about 20 million years.![]()
