Incidentally, jungle fowl (the oldest things we could look at and say "that's probably a chicken or chicken adjacent") first show up in the fossil record in the late Miocene (5-10 million years ago). And the earliest members of Phasianidae (ground nesting birds like pheasants, turkeys and chickens) show up in the fossil record in the Oligocene about 30 million years ago. Thereby thoroughly showing that the egg predates the chicken in chicken lineage by about 20 million years. ;)
Sooo, i jungal fowl are ancient chickens which eggs evolved into chickens today, wouldn't that mean the chicken came first? But the egg had to create the jungle fowl, soooo, I'm confused! :lau

My vote's on chicken. I'm a Christian and believe that God created animals "according to their kind". And so the chickens came first... because otherwise, how did the egg hatch? It had to be incubated!

(Not trying to start a fight with anyone who believes differently, I love seeing the different views. :) @ChocolateMouse the way you put it sounds pretty interesting. :) )
I agree! Thank you for saying that! I couldn't think of the right way to put it, you did it perfect!
