Every chicken should. Boofs make everything better.

Above is Zenaida. She’s a cuckoo half Australorp with muffs and beard. Has a pea comb and lays a money-green egg.

Below is her full sister, Giselle. She is a cuckoo half Australorp with straight comb, muffs and beard. Giselle lays a typical Australorp pink-brown egg.

ays a pink-brown egg.

Right, when I put a single copy blue egg gene EE rooster with muffs and beard over pure Australorp hens, I wasn’t surprised to get offspring split for muffs and split for pea comb.

What I did get, after making more crosses and growing them out, was one copy of the blue egg gene, every time, with one copy of the pea comb.

So whether or not the EE had muffs, if it had a floppy or pea comb, i could trust that it inherited one or two copies of the blue egg gene.

So when I sold my extra EE hens that had no muffs, they’d be listed as what they were, “green egg layers.” And people wanted them.

But I agree, EEs should have boof just for the cuteness factor. 😍
Not really what I meant. I get so sick of people calling every breed they can't immediately identify an EE. And I hate, HATE when people call mine EEs. They are not EEs, they are breedXbreed. I know the EXACT crosses that made mine, so I don't care if they have a muff or unrecognized colir, they are not "Just an EE."

Not necesarily. I have a few breeds with Pea comb do not lay blue eggs, nor should they be laying blue eggs
I didnt explain that correctly at all.

When eggs and sperm are made, the chromosomes swap a bunch of pieces & send the mixed up ones on to the babies. Genes that are physically closer to each other are more likely to move together rather than be split up. But I'd have to brush up on it to say anything else.

Ah, okay, that's a bit more snesible. I thought you were trying to say if a bird has pea comb, it will lay blue
