unread post icon problem

I have not been able to get the little phrase "unread posts" icon to take me back to the place I ended reading.
This worked before on both my Ipad and my pc.
Now I have to estimate the page where I left off based on the number of unread posts listed.

Is this a glitch in the system or with my connection?
