My gander has been unsteady on his feet for about 2 weeks now. Not limping but seem to have difficulty walking or keeping up with the goose and ducks. He moves really slowly and awkwardly and frequently just sits down.
The other night he sat in the doorway of the barn and didn't seem to want to get up. He let me carry him to his pen with no complaints. Anyone had this experience? Do you think hes okay? Eat normally and will swim although he seems to have trouble getting into the pool.

Unless it's a staph infection two weeks is a long time to be sick without dying. An antibiotic might help and probably won't hurt. The timing could also mean that he's slipped or done something else on the ice. Geese are dumb and klutzy about ice and tripping over objects and if they get a soft tissue injury it takes a long time to heal and they don't want to put weight on it. The pool is a good idea and he might let you put him in as long as he can get out. Helps him take the wight off the leg.

Thank you. Do regular vets deal with geese? How would I get him there? My birds stay very close together and freak out if they are separated.
