I am new to chickens and working on my run. My chicks are only 2 weeks old so it will be a while before they are out there, but I worry about the weeds/plants that grow in the only area of my yard the run will work.
I do not knkwbwhat kind the low growing weed is. Also, morning glory type vines grow on the ground in that area too. No grass.
What can I do go rid the area of these? I can't use weed killer can I?
Dig them up? Till?
Please help!
Thanks!

Have no fear, your flock (even as young as they are/will be when moved to the run) will have the ground clear of vegetation in short order with their scratching and pecking. I've yet to have a bird get into something bad. That being said, if you are truly worried about it you could pull the weeds, "scalp" the ground with a weedeater, etc.

I will be raising some dorkings for a friend with a hen that won't sit. Will they do well with my other chicks (leghorn and Sussex)?

You didn't mention your location but I'm in the Midwest and haven't had our chickens eat anything bad. We throw our weeds from the landscaping (and grass clippings) in the run. The chickens love picking through it for bugs, worms and seed. They eat the greens as well.
