We have recently purchase supposedly silver laced wyandottes and notice that two have the dark orange in there head color and in there wings. The other birds are noticeably white and all the pics of the baby chicks I have looked at it appears they are golden laced. Do silver laced wyandotte chicks have this characteristic. We purchased these from souther states and though some could have been mixed up when they were sent there which would be a great surpass for us. Help with this is appreciated.

Yes definitely goldens...on the store's behalf, the GLW and SLW chicks look very, very similar at a day or two old when they receive them. The yellow often doesn't show well for a couple of days so it is easy to mistake the SLW and the GLW for a few days.

Oh that's really exciting! We think the goldens are just as gorgeous as the silver laced, so we're pretty excited to have both! So far we're pretty sure we have two goldens and four silver. Three of the silver already have white showing on their wings, but one chick hasn't developed his wing feathers yet. Either way, that means we now have four breeds - golden and silver wyandottes, black australorpes, and buff orpingtons :)

Thank you so much for your help!
