Untreated chicken coop

@Ted Brown I would want the wood to dry out first before putting Black Jack on it or it may not adhear well. The milled wood that the op's coop was made from was just cut from trees recently and is green wood, so it's not dry.

I used Black Jack on my floor and up the walls 12", but the floor is plywood and the walls are smart siding. I highly recommend BJ it holds up well, but only on clean dry wood.

@blackdog043 That was what I was hoping you would say.

I use green rough cut lumber for a lot of my building (I have a miller close by and he is very inexpensive). I air dry stickered for the most part.

1" softwood that is open to the air and winds will lose a lot of it's moisture in 30 days, I did a bit of searching and see one company that air-drys hardwood stickered for 45-60 days down to 25% moisture.

I think that if the OP were to leave the coop opened as much as possible for 30 days it may well be sufficient to be able to apply BJ57. I would call the manufacturer and ask.

Of course the alternative, as you suggested, is vinyl/linoleum.
