Hi, Suji here. I have a 5 lady team of hens. All personally named and who get on really well. They are happy to be handled and are well mannered.

This evening when putting the girls to bed and cleaning and refilling their water container, I found a “poached” egg, no sign of a shell, in the water container! It’s not been a hot day by any means!

It honestly looked like a freshly cooked egg, both white and yoke set. I have no idea who laid it and everyone looks fine but 2 were not laying for the last two weeks.

They have no stove, and don’t watch Master Chef!

Can anyone help with this one?

Thank you!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes that is a Lash Egg, technically called Salpingitis. It stems from an infection in the hens oviduct. You might start her on a round of Amoxicillin for 7 days. 55-60 mgs per pound of bird twice a day. I usually grind the medicine down and with 2 ml of Gerber Baby food, I load it in an empty syringe and squeeze this into the front of the mouth, small amounts at a time.
