About 13 weeks old buff Orpington, seems to be growing fine, weighs more than younger housemate, but less than our girls outside.
Takes frequent naps away from peer during the day with both eyes shut.
No other birds showing symptoms.
on medicated starter feed.
Been showing sleepiness since I got her at 4 weeks, but thought she was just a growing babe who was bullied by our larger hens and needed her own space to grow, so she was put into our barn with her younger flock mate.
Bedding is the rubber flooring of the barn stall with some wood chippings(to make it easier to examine and clean fecal droppings). Heating lamp double secured in the corner of the stall so she has heat if needed. 2 clean water options. Has a large tree branch and a few boxes to perch/hide in/on, though the boxes were just thrown away yesterday.
Was adding raw apple cider vinegar to water for the last week. Also have both pullets a few dust baths with DE.
She has slept like this, during the day, since we got her at 4 weeks. However my parents don’t observe the behavior and say she is awake when they go out in the mornings, Im out there more frequently during the day when this occurs. She Just started perching this Sunday. But she is Deep sleeping, often doesn’t wake up until I handle her, both eyes closed, head tucked under wing, in, or sometimes her little head will keep slowly falling to the side. Yesterday she did not wake to me petting her until I gave her a little scratching. Which worries me.
Poops still look normal.
She is active when awake, runs and catches bugs like any other chicken! I watch her eat and drink after waking.
Crop seems to fill and empty.
Can’t find anything online that seems to match what’s happening. Another user recommended corid in their water, just in case. But I don’t want to give medicine if it isn’t what is needed. I do have the medicine and will drench does asap tonight if I’m not recommend otherwise before then.
Too young to lay or molt. (Just over 3 months old)

Forgot to mention that when she is asleep, she seems to occasionally breath funny. Like, an occasional little head tilt back, opens her beak slightly like she’s going to chirp, but just sort of takes a little wheeze breath? Does not occur when awake.

Just checked on her again a little over an hour later, she’s asleep under the heating, head pulled into neck, did not open eyes while I was stomping 2 ft away, shouting, or calling for them. Had to nudge her to get her eyes to open. But then she blinked, and walked over to the water while stretching her legs.
She seems so normal to me when she is awake! I’ve just never seen a chicken sleeping like she does. Completely out cold.
I’ve attached various photos of her awake and asleep, as well as my first photo taken of her sleeping the day she was moved inside. I’m not sure how to upload a video.
I do have a video on Reddit where I have also asked for any information that may be helpful.

She does seem fluffed up a bit, too. I'd dose the corid. It won't hurt her if she doesn't need it.

I wonder if she's deaf, too?
This evening I drenched dosed both chicks approximately for their weight and added to their water. She’s 1lb, Baby is .3lbs

I actually thought that as well, however my limited reading revealed that deafness is not something that a chicken would typically have. Also, at the very least she should have been startled by the vibrations she can feel through her feet as I went about the room. Especially while sweeping/cleaning/stomping near her.

Good idea with starting the Corid.

I'd drench her for 3 days in row, this is in addition to her drinking the mixed Corid water for 5-7 days.
Don't add any extra supplements or vitamins that contain B1 (Thiamine) during the course of treatment.

I'd treat all the chicks (give them Corid water to drink) even if they aren't showing any symptoms.

At night are there any lights on in or near the coop?

Thank you for mentioning the vitamins! I was going to give her some tomorrow.

Dose the corid cause diarrhea? Since administering I’ve gotten a few weird poops. They did find a lot of bugs today.
