Unwanted advice!

That's what I need to start doing!

Everyone on here has been SUPER helpful! I'm talking friends and family. OY They are lucky I love them!

I don't think it's really much different than the unsolicited advice that is often given for raising children, dogs, etc. Everyone knows the basics of food, water and shelter, but how to best provide those in a healthy and happy environment differ tremendously from home to home, from circumstance to circumstance.

And then there will always be those that ask why you need a dog, or another dog, or chickens, and those that even have the audicity to question people who have more than two children.

None of this is EVER anyone's business but your own (unless you are an unfit, wreckless or neglectful caregiver). But to safeguard and maintain the relationships you have with your family and friends, it's probably best to just say "Thank you", take it with a grain of salt, and go about your business.

I just smile and say-thanks for the ideas. Eventually it will slow down.

With family the above is a must.Don't want to ruffle any feathers, lol.

You'll find "know it alls" in what ever you do. I just smile and say "thanks, I'll keep that in mind" or what ever fits.
When I ran sound for the band, half the drunks at the bar were sound experts.
At my job, I've got a few people that think they need to tell me how to do my work... even though I think they're just trying to show me how smart they think they are (not that I care) and not necessarily to tell me what to do! (I'm a facility manager) I try to not take it personal, as I see their over sharing as a way to build themselves up, more than tell me how to do things. Some people are honestly trying to help and have no idea how much you actually know, so they'll share everything. (Sometimes I actually learn something new)

lol if ONE more person tells me to make sure I wash my hands and have my daughter wash her hand after handling them I will scream! i wouldn't mind if it was actual advice and less like "WHAT you have chickens? Make sure you're washing your hands! And Stay away from that poop! It'll make you SO sick!" We live in out in the sticks so really having chickens is not that crazy! lol Even if we didn't as long as it was ok'd with zoning it wouldn't be that crazy! The other favorite I've heard is "What are you going to DO with chickens?"
Well you know, I though I would stuff them and use them as lawn ornaments! What in the world do you think? We want eggs! LOL!

I'm getting that too.

On my good person days, I smile and say, "I appreciate your concern." On my ... other... days, I wire my mouth shut.

How about telling them to go stuff it? Oh wait... that's that filter thing right?
