Cool. I also want to breed chickens when I have my own property.

Nice. We own an acre. (As seen in my free ranging article.)
What breeds? The first breeds I wanted aren't any of the birds I have now. It took a little trial and error to find the breed for me. I'm focusing on d'Anvers, Ameraucana, and Buckeyes, even bantam Buckeyes, but my hen died so we have to get a new one. unfortunately I am forced to own other breeds, though I like our Dominiques and Welsummers. I am also focusing on Call ducks.

I get chicks whenever they’re available. It varies what varieties you want, from which hatchery, the date they can ship, etc.

I noticed most get them in May and June, but alot of serious breeders get them from February through May. I got some in March and April last year, the year before I got them in May, and once I got chicks in June a long time ago.

I'm thinking the spring NCF will happen around mid to late April, and I might not do a summer one depending on how successful the first one is and general feedback.
