No I didn't get my car fixed yet, DH will be back from Texas on Wednesday, and of course when it rains it pours... I don't have a job either as of tonight.

TheNewChick: He is an OEG Bantam, (his name is penny, and his brothers name is quarter), we have LOTS of Roosters, everything we hatched last year from those two hens eggs were roosters, not a single pullet. I was upset, we had four more hatch out in the last 2 hatches, I am hoping that they are not roosters too.... Do you want some of the Roosters?????

I'm sorry about your job, but on the bright side you have some new chic babies. Hopefully you can get your car fixed when DH gets back from Texas. It does always seem to pour at once, at least it does for me.

What kinds of chics are you hatching?

They are Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds and there may possibly be a Barred Rock/Rhode Island Red X coming soon. I don't think she was laying yet when we set this batch but I can't remember....

So far there are 18/20 hatched and one more trying to get out of its shell. That will be the last one if it hatches. One died last night trying to hatch, it was a very large chick. I am guessing that it just couldn't get around in that shell. It was in the entire shell.... Here's hoping the last one hatches today with a 19/20 hatch rate

The one that did not hatch, when I took it out of the shell, it had a rather large comb, larger then i have seen on newly hatched chicks, it also filled the entire egg, so I am guessing that it just didn't have room. Is it odd to have such a large comb? It was about the size of the combs on my two week old chicks.... I am now officially confused.
