Already dropping hintd to the DH that I will be expanding the coop - I mean building a new one thi summer....

Good thing I'm handy and good with tools. I just need him to help with the heavy labor and the doors and windows.. (can't do those... I'm not patient or meticulous enough)

if all goes well i should have babies on the 6th of Feb

i have about 17 chicken eggs in my bator and 4 duck eggs as of right now.. but i have more duck eggs coming any day now..lol

and ETA: it's not 17 chicken eggs.. i was only counting eggs i got from one box..lol but with that 17 and the other chicken eggs it's about 20 some thing like 23 maybe 24..i have to recount when i candle..lol

I also have eggs due to hatch on the 7th.

Mine are mystery eggs, so I have no idea what kind of chickens these will be.
Kinda adds to the excitement a little bit.

I just candled early this morning and am happy to see that 6 out of 9 of our eggs have networks of veins and a little chick is beginning to form!

I threw out one egg yesterday, noticing that it clearly wasn't fertile, and the 2 other eggs I'm not sure about. I'm not throwing any more out though until Tuesday, when I'll candle again.

Just candles my eggs and I have 7 out of 10 for sure!!

Not sure about the other 3

I'll check again at the end of the week!!

Mine aren't looking too good at all. Out of 6 it only looks like 1 is doing anything. I'll candle again on Thursday to be sure.
