Once again, many thanks to everyone who has contributed their information and insights into this thread. It has been most helpful.
Holly has done very well this week. I have been working with her on her own, as well as incorporating her into our normal daily routine. We are also slowly acclimating her to "family life" inside the house by having an hour or so of indoor doggie time after my chicken pens are cleaned in the evenings. She went from a wild dog jumping on the coffee table and putting feet on the counter, to a curious, quiet playmate by the end of the week. She already knows not to climb on furniture, not to place front feet on tables, and this afternoon she started to jump up on my lap, thought better of it, and waited with "feet on the deck" to receive her mommy lovin'. For the most part she has listened and tried to understand commands as we encounter new things, and we are repeating commands consistently and using the same words for what we want.
She has responded to "firm voice" when doing something we do not want her to do. Early mornings are a bit of a challenge as she is a bouncing ball of energy, so I let her run with my BC until they are tired and ready to pay attention.
The leash walking will take a bit longer, but we will continue to work on this. I continue to welcome comments, and will most likely be contacting a few of you for more advice as we progress. Thanks very much for your insight and support!

[While I was at the table typing this, Holly found one of my bandanas and was in the process of shredding it. *sigh* We are a work in progress!]
